In a speech on his judicial philosophy delivered Tuesday in a chapel at North Carolina's Wake Forest University, Sen. John McCain sought to burnish his conservative credentials with a broadside against "the common and systematic abuse of our federal courts by the people we entrust with judicial power" and a promise of "better judges" in the mold of Supreme Court justices John G. ONLINE Iran cancels Iraq security talks with Iran called off further Iraq security talks with Washington until U.S. forces stop their crackdown on Shiite militias, but the military brought more air power into the fight Monday and escalated its accusations of Iranian backing for extremists.

The latest flare-up has put Iraq's government in a bind as it seeks to stamp out armed Shiite gangs but worries about angering Shiite heavyweight Iran, which has close ties to the core of Iraq's political leadership.

Washington has long accused Iran of arming and training some Shiite militia factions. The accusations were sharpened Monday as the military said detainees described being trained at bases outside Tehran by militants from Hezbollah, an Iranian-aided faction based in Lebanon. LOTTERIES South

Splash burst onto the scene in 1999 as the official mascot of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Eight years later he is still going strong! Since the Pelicans flew into the Grand Strand, Splash’s antics have been on display at each and every home game. His Iron Man-esque streak of consecutive games entertained is still intact. During this past off-season, the biggest bird on the beach received an extreme makeover. Splash put in hour after hour in the gym to work on a more sculpted look. When he wasn't pumping iron in the gym you could find him running on the beach ala Rocky Balboa in preparation for Opening Day 2007. A trip to the plastic surgeon was also in order for the feathery friend. Once Splash recovered from his surgery he was ready to fly into the new era of Pelicans baseball. Finally, the moment was here! On Opening Night 2007 (Thursday, April 5th) the new Splash made a celebrity-style appearance and stunned the record breaking crowd of 6,074 fans, the largest crowd to ever watch a Pelicans home game. Splash leaped out of a limo, which was wheeled around the warning track and the crowd went wild! Even Presidential hopeful and former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, attended the must-see event! Splash is back and he's better than ever!

Come out this Saturday to Prince Resort at the Cherry Grove Pier to meet Splash and his buddies. Remember he’ll only be here for an hour, so make sure you get here in time and after enjoy lunch at the Boardwalk Beach Café or ice cream at Scoops.
