In a speech on his judicial philosophy delivered Tuesday in a chapel at North Carolina's Wake Forest University, Sen. John McCain sought to burnish his conservative credentials with a broadside against "the common and systematic abuse of our federal courts by the people we entrust with judicial power" and a promise of "better judges" in the mold of Supreme Court justices John G. ONLINE Iran cancels Iraq security talks with Iran called off further Iraq security talks with Washington until U.S. forces stop their crackdown on Shiite militias, but the military brought more air power into the fight Monday and escalated its accusations of Iranian backing for extremists.

The latest flare-up has put Iraq's government in a bind as it seeks to stamp out armed Shiite gangs but worries about angering Shiite heavyweight Iran, which has close ties to the core of Iraq's political leadership.

Washington has long accused Iran of arming and training some Shiite militia factions. The accusations were sharpened Monday as the military said detainees described being trained at bases outside Tehran by militants from Hezbollah, an Iranian-aided faction based in Lebanon. LOTTERIES South

Four Planets and the Moon at Family Space Day at Ingram Planetarium

Plan now to attend Family Space Day on May 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Ingram Planetarium.  See a special program from NASA about Messenger robotic exployer program to Mercury.  Enjoy family activities in the Paul Dennis Science Hall including building a cardboard rocket and watching a laser demonstration about how telescopes work.  Weather permitting, we will set up portable telescopes to view Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and the Moon.  Regular admission applies and this program is for ages 8 and up.

The Planetarium has great star shows, telescope viewing & sky events about astronomy, science, and space exploration.  The Sky Theater simulates a perfectly dark, starry night and it is unsafe to move around during the shows.  Late arrivals are not admitted to the theater.  After the Sky Theater shows, check out the engaging exhibits in the Paul Dennis Science Hall.
